Content note:
The collection consists of the Diary of Thomas Erskine Wardle, calendar year 1918; folded inside it are a carbon copy of a letter to his mother and a three-page summary of Captain Wardle's biography and his action against the German raider Greif on February 29, 1916; 20 large linen sheets of secret plans for warships and submarines; and a five-page printed memorandum of Operation ZZ, dated 20 November 1918, regarding the surrender of the German fleet.
