Content Note

The Archives of the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce consists of Meeting Minutes from the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee (1917-1988), Projects & Reports files including correspondence, clippings, and other informational materials regarding boosterism, events, and the economic development of the area. Publications and Newsletters produced by the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce between 1924 and 1999 are also included as well as a large group of photographs. The photographs include area businesses and events, personalities from the Chamber and around the area, and a 1916 scrapbook featuring photographs of advertising signs produced by Western Sign Works of Wichita, Kansas. The collection dates between 1917 and 2000 and is organized by types of materials.

Meeting Minutes. This series contains bound Meeting Minutes from May 7, 1917 to December 5, 1988. There is also an "Index To Old Minutes of Board of Directors" located in Box 28 FF 2.
Series 2 Box 29 FF 1 - Box 42 FF 28 Projects and Reports. The files in this series may contain reports, memos, correspondence, clippings and other informational materials. They are arranged alphabetically.
Series 3 Box 42 FFs 29-31 Correspondence. The files in this series contain correspondence from 1990 and 1992.
Series 4 Box 43 FF 1 - Box 64 FF 3 Publications. This series includes publications produced by the Wichita Chamber of Commerce including: Wichita, The Wichita, What We Are Doing, The Wichita Magazine, Wichita Magazine, Wichita Week, Wichita Trends, Wichita business, Wichita Business, Wichita Commerce, Insight, Chamber Insight!, and Chamber Impact. The publications may be found in Box 43 FF 1 - Box 63 FF4 and date between 1924 and 1999. The second set of materials found in this series consist of materials regarding the Wichita Business magazine. They may be found in Box 63 FFs 5-56. The final set of materials found in this series are miscellaneous bound publications. They may be found in Box 64 FFs 1-3 and date between 1982 and 1985.
Series 5 Box 65 FF 1 - Box 79 Images. This series includes photographs starting with "People" and then arranged alphabetically by name or subject matter [Box 65 FF 1 - Box 73 FF 41]. These folders may contain photographs, artist renderings, slides, contact sheets and/or negatives. There are also photographs arranged by year [Box 73 FF 42 - Box 76 FF FF4] which includes photographs taken between 1990-1994 and 1997. The series also contains photographs arranged by publication [Box 76 FFs 5-17], unidentified negatives and contact sheets [Box 76 FF 18 - Box 77 FF 2], unidentified slides [Box 77 FF 3], and videos [Boxes 77-79].
Series 6 Box 80 Artifacts. The artifacts included in this series are belt buckles commemorating Wichita businesses and events.
Series 7 Box 81 Oversized. This series contains oversized items including photographs and a Pizza Hut proposal.
