Content Note

While the William Jardine papers cover many topics, the greater part of the material mainly concerns the University of Wichita, now Wichita State University, and its continued expansion. Some of the various topics are among the following: faculty concerns, sorority and fraternity matters, campus parking, student aid and activities, commencement, location of new departments, and teacher protection and retirement. The material involving Jardine as a diplomat to Egypt and as Secretary of Agriculture is contained in the correspondence files. Some notable correspondents include Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Dwight Eisenhower, and Milton Eisenhower. Jardine was the president of the University of Wichita from 1934 to 1949.
