The collection documents the legislative effort by the University of Wichita to become part of the statewide system of higher education governed by the Kansas Board of Regents as Wichita State University. Specific materials include the following: reports regarding enrollment, financial data, tuition assistance, salaries and employment; maps and graphs depicting student population and enrollment; correspondence; referendum proposals; documentation of special study committees and other legislative committees work; and other related papers. The University of Wichita was a municipal university from 1926 until 1964. It then became Wichita State University.
