Literary rights were not granted to the Wichita State University. When permission
is granted to examine the manuscripts, it is not an authorization to publish
them. Manuscripts cannot be used for publication without regard for common law
literary rights, copyright laws
and the laws of libel. It is the responsibility of the researcher and his/her
publisher to obtain permission to publish. Scholars and students who eventually
plan to have their work published are urged to make inquiry regarding overall
restrictions on publication before initial research.
Restrictions: The Charles S. Gubser Collection was closed to researchers for a period of five years. This restriction expired December 3, 1979.
Content note:
The following general aspects represent the Charles S. Gubser Collection: letters
to and from constituents of the 10th Congressional District of California, committee
hearings and reports, speeches and addresses made before Congress and local
meetings, House Bills written and sponsored by Gubser, general correspondence,
political and election material related to the Republican party, presidential
campaign correspondence and literature, books and pamphlets, newspaper clippings
and memorabilia. Gubser served 21 years in the U.S. House of Representatives
representing the 10th District of California.
