Content Note

Pollard's life as a stage and screen actor and director is represented by means of scrapbooks, reviews and photographs in this collection. Included are still photographs of Pollard and his wife Margarita Fischer in the 1913 version of Uncle Tom's Cabin, a scrapbook, poster, and clippings related to the 1929 production of Showboat, and numerous other materials. Pollard was born in Republic City, Kansas.

Series 1 Box 1-Box 2 FF 1-6 Photographs, Uncle Tom's Cabin. Includes movie stills from the 1913 version in which Pollard and his wife, Margarita Fischer, starred, and stills from the 1927 version which Pollard directed.
Series 2 Box 2 FF 7-13 Photographs, Harry Pollard. Includes movie stills from four of his films as well as personal and professional photographs of Pollard.
Series 3 Box 3 FF 1-3 Items Pertaining to Uncle Tom's Cabin. Includes clippings and reviews dated from 1926 to 1930, programs and invitations, and historical data including a letter from 1837.
Series 4 Box 3 FF 4 Items Pertaining to Showboat. Includes clippings and reviews dated from 1929 to 1930 and an announcement from Universal's Carl Laemmele.
Series 5 Box 3 FF 5-6 Miscellaneous. Includes clippings and reviews dated from 1927 to 1936, business cards, a postcard, a telegram, and two letters.

Box 3 FF 1 Publicity for Uncle Tom's Cabin. Includes a pictorial supplement by the Larchmont Theatre, December 25, 1928 and several clippings and reviews dated from March 17, 1926 to October 8, 1930. Publications included are: Daily Mirror, Exhibitors Daily Review, Exhibitors Herald and Moving Picture World, Hollywood Magazine, Los Angeles Evening Herald, Los Angeles Times, The News Scimitar, Plattsburgh Daily Press, Sunday Oregonian, Theater Magazine, and Universal Weekly.
Box 3 FF 2 Souvenirs for Uncle Tom's Cabin. Includes a souvenir book, Easter dinner invitation for the cast, two reunion dinner party invitations for the cast; one for Miss Margarita Fischer and one for Mr. Harry Pollard, and four programs.
Box 3 FF 3 Historical Data for Uncle Tom's Cabin. Includes three clippings, one letter dated February 22, 1837, and one bill of sale dated October 30, 1855.

Box 3 FF 4 Clippings and Other Items Relating to Showboat. Includes an announcement; a clipping from the Los Angeles Times, April 23, 1929; several clippings and reviews dated from March 29, 1929 to January 16, 1930. Publications included are: The Film Mercury, The Film Spectator, Greater Show World, Harrison's Reports, Hilo Tribune-Herald, Hollywood Daily Screen World, Hollywood News, The Honolulu Advertiser, Los Angeles Evening Express, Los Angeles Evening Herald, Los Angeles Examiner, Los Angeles Record, Los Angeles Times, Motion Picture News, and The World; and one clipping from the St. Louis Star, May 1, 1929. This clipping is located in the oversized collection.

Publications included are: The Film Mercury, Hollywood Daily Screen World, Hollywood News, The Hollywood Reporter, Honolulu Star-Bulletin, Los Angeles Evening Express, and Universal Weekly. The following clippings are located in the oversized collection: one clipping from the San Diego Union, January 1, 1917; two clippings from the Los Angeles Times, August 9, 1925 and December 14, 1930; one copy of Motion Picture Today, August 22, 1925; a full page advertisement for Pollard Picture Plays; one clipping from The Vista Press, December 31, 1936; and one clipping from North-China Daily News, November 28, 1936.
