Content Note

Laiten Camien’s papers contain correspondence and other documents that he used when writing his master’s thesis at the University of Wichita in 1933. The correspondence dates from 1932 and 1933. The papers deal with Kansas history and especially about the topic of his thesis: schools in Sumner County, Kansas. There are also some notes on a robbery that occurred in Medicine Lodge in 1883. Also included are ephemeral pieces from Camien’s senior year at Wichita High School, 1924.

Markley, county superintendent of schools in Sumner County, regarding information about the history of schools in the county; (3) April 30, 1932 - A letter from Helen M. McFarland to Mr. Camien regarding information about the schools of Sumner County;(4) April 17, 1933 - A letter from Thomas W. Butcher to Mr. Camien concerning information about the County High School in Wellington; (5) April 20, 1933 - A letter from A. K. Box 1 FF 7 High School Ephemera from Laiten Camien’s senior year at Wichita High School in 1924 includes: Program from the 46th Annual Commencement of Wichita High School, program from “The Judsons Entertain”a play presented by the Senior Class of Wichita High School, Wichita High School Commencement Sermon, Senior class Banquet menu, two typed pages of lyrics for the Class Song, and the carnation Camien wore on his coat at graduation.
