The Rose Stokely Collection of German Money of 1915-1930 contains seven albums of paper currency that was printed during and after World War I. The money was practically worthless due to the economic depression in Germany following the war. For example, it would have taken a sack full of this money to buy a loaf of bread. The money was also printed locally in several different places throughout Germany and the money depicts local legends and the history of a given region. In this case, the artwork for the most part is worth more than the money itself.
