Content Note
The Sam and Millie Marcus Collection contains a series of scrapbooks which contain newspaper clippings, photographs, awards, honors and other memorabilia that describe the Marcus family's influence in the business, social and civic life of Wichita. The scrapbooks date from 1949 to 1985.
Biography
Sam Marcus (1906-1987) was a Wichita businessman who
amassed his fortune in the beef industry. For many years he was the president
and chairman of the board of the Kansas Beef Industries, MBPXL and Excel
corporations. He and his wife Millie (1909-2000) were involved in many social,
civic and charitable organizations in the city. Obituaries in the collection
provide more information about their lives.
