Boone describes the topographical, geological and geographical points of interest, the flora and fauna of the region, the contacts that his expedition had with the Osage Indians, and difficulties that he and his troops encountered on the journey. |

This article contains a reproduction of Boone's Journal with annotated notes, Captain Boone's Report, Zachary Taylor's Letter of Transmittal, and a brief introduction about Boone, who was Daniel Boone's youngest child and during 1843 at the time of the Prairie Expedition was a Captain in the 1st Regiment of United States Dragoons. |
