| Box 1 | FF 1 | Contains William A. Webb's diary while he was a student at Fairmount College (Academy) during the school term of 1897-1898. Webb describes his daily routine of going to classes, practicing piano, going to chapel, exercising with the track team, playing handball or basketball in the gymnasium, or exercising in his room, and trying to find a good meal in the dorm or trying to keep his dorm room warm during the winter months. Webb also describes how lonely it was for him at times and of his desire to visit home on weekends (which was in Clearwater). To get around town, he either rode a bicycle, trolley car, hitched a ride in a buggy, or walked. |
| Box 1 | FF 2 | Contains William A. Webb's diary while he was a student at Fairmount College during the school term of 1898-1899. This diary contains much of the same type of material as the previous diary. Webb does describe helping his father with the wheat harvest during the summer months before returning to school in the fall. Webb gives an interesting account of a football game dated Tuesdat, November 15, 1898: "Played football till 5:30. We had two 20 min. halves. Second team had 15 min. Robert Eaton broke his wrist and Professor Clark got a blow on the thigh which laid him out for the rest of the evening. In the second half Cooke got his arm dislocated at the shoulder. Clarke tried to set it but failed. We quit then. The first team was victorious without any trouble. Oysters for supper." At the end of the diary, Webb describes his graduation exercises. |
