Content Note

The Annette Ross Hume Photograph Collection contains eleven original black and white photographs taken by Mrs. Annette Ross Hume about 1895 near Anadarko, Oklahoma Territory. The photographs include images of Quanah Parker; grass house of Towaconie Jim, Chief of the Wichitas; Kiowa children and family; and Kiowa tepees and tents.

Biography

Annette Ross Hume was the wife of Dr. Charles Robinson Hume, who moved to Oklahoma Territory in 1890 to become the physician of the Anadarko Indian Agency. (See Joseph B. Thoburn, A Standard History of Oklahoma, Vol. V, p. 2104 for more biographical information.)
