Content Note

The Jim Sherow Collection consists of five audio tapes containing three interviews with people who were knowledgeable about the early history of Langdon, Kansas. The interviews are in conjunction with Jim Sherow's master's thesis in history entitled Langdon, Kansas: The Aging of a Rural Town, completed in 1978 for the Wichita State University history department. Sherow's study concentrates on Langdon, Kansas, a town that peaked after 1912 yet declined between 1920 and 1950. The interviews are only a fraction of interviews made for the thesis (17 in total) yet provide insight into life and times of early Langdon from the mid-1800s to the 1970s.
