The following is a summary of the jobs and ventures in which Hill was a major participant, including salaried employment, corporations, and individual promotions. The information obtained for this summary was written by Hill in June, 1974. The list is in chronological order, an asterisk after the date indicates that further information and materials are contained in the collection. From this point on in this guide, Hill will be referred to by his initials, FLH, and Air Associates will be known as AA.

1912-17 * Hall-Scott Motor Car Company, Berkeley, California. The company designed and manufactured engines. FLH worked for the company as a draftsman, machinist, and general assistant.
1917 * J. L. Hicks Marine Engine Company, San Francisco. The company designed and manufactured marine engines. FLH tried to take over the company by promoting investors, but the venture was unsuccessful.
1917 FLH set up airplane engine instruction and demonstration course for Army Aviation Ground School at University of California at Berkeley.
1917-18 * During World War I, FLH worked for Al Hall, President of Hall-Scott Motor Car Company, designing the four-cylinder Liberty engine and 12-cylinder Liberty engine for airplanes.
1919 Berkeley, California. Designed slow speed heavy marine engine with FLH's friend, Harold Crow. Wrote prospectus and tried to find backer.
1919 * Hewitt-Ludlow Motor Truck Co. The company manufactured and designed engines. FLH was employed as its chief engineer.
1919 * A. H. Coates Co., San Francisco. The company was a manufacturers' distributorship for automotive products. FLH was employed as a sales engineer.
1919-20 * Adam-Hill Co., San Francisco. The company was a distributorship for automotive products. FLH and Pete Adam, bookkeeper at A. H. Coates Co., started partnership.
1920-21 * F. Leroy Hill, Engineering and Sales Representative. FLH began this company after separating from Pete Adam. The company was a distributorship of automotive products.
1921 * Motive Products Co, San Francisco. The company was a partnership with Harold Crow, expanding the lines and sales of the above company.
1921-22 * Duo Disc Steel Wheel Co., Los Angeles and Maywood Illinois. The company manufactured and sold steel disc wheels for the Ford Model T. FLH acted as the company manager.
1922 Lincoln-Light Midwest Co., Omaha, Nebraska. The company was a partnership with Harold Crow for the distribution of Lincoln-Light farm lighting plants in four states.
1922-23 Lincoln-Light Corp, Grafton, Wisconsin. The company manufactured and designed farm lighting plants. FLH worked for the company as a factory manager.
1924* Radio Units, Inc., Maywood, Illinois. The company manufactured loop aerials and dial adjusters. FLH was employed by the company as its factory manager.
1924-28 * Bodine Electric Co., Chicago, Illinois. The company manufactured and designed electric motors. FLH was employed as an engineer with the company.
1927 Hill-Crow Co., San Francisco, California. The company was a renewed partnership for engineering and sales with Harold Crow. The company never formed because FLH accepted a job with Air Associates (AA).
1928-41 * Air Associates, Inc. The company sold airplanes, serviced airplane engines, distributed aviation supplies and accessory equipment, and manufactured aircraft hardware. FLH held the positions of business manager, vice president, and president.
1930-39 * Jesco Lubricants, Inc., Kansas City, Kansas. FLH invested in a company that was promoting a special lubrication material.
1933 * Magmatic Minerals, Inc., Washington, D.C. FLH invested in company that was making synthetic diamonds.
1937 Spencer-Larson Aircraft Co., Garden City, New York. FLH invested in a company that designed and manufactured amphibian aircraft.
1940-41 * Aircraft Standard Parts Co., (No. 1) Rockford, Illinois. The company was a small joint venture for special aircraft screw drilling operation.
1942-74 * Cotta Transmission Co., Rockford, Illinois. FLH invested in a joint venture. The company manufactured and designed gears and transmissions.
1942-44 * Hill-Bartelt Machine Co., Rockford, Illinois. The company was a partnership between FLH and Harold Bartelt. The company designed and manufactured thread mills and other machinery.
1942-45 * Aero Screw Co., Rockford, Illinois. FLH began this company that manufactured and sold aircraft hardware.
1942-47 * Aircraft Standard Parts Co., (No. 2), Rockford, Illinois. This company was a family partnership which manufactured hose clamps, turnbuckles, and other airplane parts.
1943-44 Econo Mfg. Co., Chicago, Illinois. This company was set up to share sales of Aero Screw Co. and Aircraft Standard Parts Co.
1943-44 Ferra Mfg. Co., Rockford, Illinois. Same as above.
1943-44 Midland Mfg. Co., Rockford, Illinois. Same as above.
1943-44 Drill Mfg. Co., Rockford, Illinois. Same as above.
1943-44 Pinion Gear Co., Rockford, Illinois. Same as above.
1943-45 * Threaded Products Co., Rockford, Illinois. FLH formed this company that produced screws for Aircraft Standard Parts Co. hose clamps.
1943-45 * Machine Salvage Co., Rockford, Illinois. FLH formed this company to buy and sell used machinery.
1944-45 * Texarkana Supply Co., Dallas, Texas. This company was a partnership designed to establish a supply-jobbing business.
1944-46 Rock River Screw Machine Products Co., Rockford, Illinois. This company was a partnership designed to manufacture hose clamp screws.
1944-50 F. L. Hill Mfg. Corp., Inc., Rockford, Illinois. FLH formed this company as a personal holding company for the investment and management of his various projects.
1944-49 * Polo Pump Co., Polo, Illinois. The company manufactured oil burner pumps. The started as Rystrom Engineering Co., and FLH invested in and managed the company.
1945-74 * Hill Machine Co., Rockford, Illinois. (Later renamed Hill-Rockford Co.) FLH formed this company which started as a tool, die, and contract shop and later manufactured and designed specialized machinery.
1947 * Aldrich Co., Wyoming, Illinois. The company manufactured oil burners and boilers. FLH promoted the sale of Aldrich to the Breeze Corporation and acted as the company's general manager for nine months.
1951-68 * Building - 610 East State St., Rockford, Illinois. FLH bought and managed building.
1953-56 * Lanolin Plus, Inc., Chicago, Illinois. FLH invested in this company which manufactured cosmetics.
1954-74 * Duplex Dwelling - Ellen Avenue, Rockford, Illinois. FLH purchased building and land which he leased to Rockford Memorial Hospital.
1954-55 * Neutronics, Inc., Detroit, Michigan. FLH invested in company which manufactured a chrome processing equipment.
1954-56 * Camdale, Inc., Detroit, Michigan. FLH invested in company that manufactured and designed precision cams and gears.
1954-56 * Bellanca Aircraft Co., Newcastle, Delaware. FLH invested in company that manufactured aircraft equipment.
1954-58 * Syncro Flame, Inc., Walworth & Delavan, Wisconsin. FLH invested in company that manufactured oil and gas burners.
1954-68 * Walter E. Selck & Co., Chicago, Illinois. FLH invested in company that manufactured floor coverings and sink frames.
1955-56 * State Pharmacal Co., Chicago, Illinois. The company manufactured cosmetics. FLH invested and promoted stock exchange between Lanolin Plus and State Pharmacal Co.
1955-60 * McAlear Mfg. Co., Chicago, Illinois. FLH invested in company that manufactured valves and fittings.
1955-71 * North Towne Plaza, Rockford, Illinois Shopping Center. FLH invested in stock in the shopping plaza.
1955-74 * Vance Industries, Inc. Chicago, Illinois. FLH invested in company that manufactured sink frames and floor coverings.
1956-57 * Chicago Leasing Service, Chicago, Illinois. FLH invested in real estate company.
1956-60 * Skillman Hardware Co., Trenton, New Jersey. FLH invested in building-hardware manufacturer.
1956-64 * Graphic Arts Trust, Chicago, Illinois. FLH and others purchased building in Detroit and resold building to the Church of Religious Science in Los Angeles.
1958-60 * Laurel Bloomery Mines, Bristol, Tennessee. FLH invested in a joint venture of a manganese-mining operation.
1959 * Vinco, Inc., Detroit, Michigan. FLH promoted the purchase and merger of Vinco by Selck & Co. in order to establish an AMEX listing for Selck & Co.
1959-60 * Commercial Trades Institute, Chicago, Illinois. FLH invested in correspondence school for TV repair, air conditioning repair and other trades.
1959-64 * Lamb Industries, Inc., Toledo, Ohio. FLH invested in company which manufactured water heaters and other products.
1959-73 * Ponder Oils, Ltd., Calgary, Canada. FLH invested in petroleum exploration and production company.
1964-66 * Assets Equipment Co., Inc., Rockford, Illinois. FLH invested in machinery- leasing company.
1964-73 * Tollway Properties, Chicago, Illinois. FLH invested in joint venture to purchase and sell 1500 acres of land on N.W. Tollway in Chicago.
1966-72 * Harwood & Co., Francestown, N.H. FLH invested in partnership of small contracting business.
