The YWCA of Wichita Collection contains a variety of materials collected and generated by the Wichita YWCA from 1888 to 1993. The collection includes correspondence, photographs, scrapbooks, video tapes, and memorabilia. Most of the items have been arranged in chronological order, and they span a wide range of events, operational activities, fund raising, and issues dealing with the Wichita branch of the YWCA.

Along with clippings are articles used in the campaign, brochures, correspondence, contributor cards, pledges, lists of workers and subscribers. Of interest are telegrams from A. A. Hyde and Billy Sunday, a YWCA pennant, and an architectural drawing by H. S. Conrow of the proposed new building.

1974-1981. Topics covered in this scrapbook show the wide range of interest to women in this period which the YWCA addressed. Newspaper articles cover the Women’s Work Option program; workshops for displaced homemakers and tenants; the Crisis Center and domestic violence; the “Woman Experiencing” program which offered communication skills, assertiveness training, money management, fashion tips, and exercise discussions; and counseling for rape victims, career management, and health services.
