    Content Note
The Langdon P. Marvin Collection contains over 500 letters to and from John F. Kennedy, dated 1947-1958, chronicling Kennedy's efforts in aviation legislation including many original letters to Kennedy and copies of letters sent by him. The collection is from the files of Langdon P. Marvin, Jr., an advisor to Kennedy on aviation issues. It also includes memos, text of speeches and press releases, House and Senate bills, telegrams, magazine articles authored by Kennedy, and newspaper clippings. These materials detail the progress of several bills introduced by Kennedy from the initial research stage through drafts, supporting speeches, attempts to win other legislators' votes, to press releases announcing the passage of the bills. In some cases there are several duplicate copies of many of the letters. Langdon P. Marvin, a godson of Franklin D. Roosevelt, worked with and for John F. Kennedy during the period of these papers. He was the primary research person and author of Kennedy's air transport and mail subsidy legislation.
