Content Note

This collection includes photographs, a journal, correspondence, clippings and other memorabilia from Omnibus College’s tour of summer 1932. Lester Spong collected these items during his seven-week stint as a baggage helper on this tour of the western United States. His journal gives a day-to-day account of the tour describing flora and fauna as well as national parks, Indian reservations, and the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. There is also some information about the history, purpose and itinerary of the Omnibus College tours. The University of Wichita was affiliated with Omnibus College from 1931 until 1936 at which time the program was disbanded.
