Content Note
This collection contains several items regarding development and use of atomic energy for military purposes during World War II. The Smyth report gives a general account of the methodology; a book, Now It Can Be Told: The Story of the Manhattan Project, by Leslie R. Groves, recounts the history of the Manhattan Project. Newspaper and magazine articles written and published after the first atomic bomb dropped on Japan in August 1945 are also included. Some leaflets dropped on Japan by bombers are included as well.
