Content Note

The Wichita Urban Renewal Collection consists of correspondence, reports, studies, and related materials. These materials represent an effort on behalf of the Wichita City government and its citizens to improve Urban Neighborhoods and revitalize former business areas to increase the attractiveness of Wichita to outsiders. This collection serves the dual purpose of showing a community’s attempts to improve certain areas in addition to allowing insight into Wichita and local history.

Contains correspondence, reports, agendas, and maps regarding the construction and upgrading of storm drains and access roads to stimulate economic development and filing with Economic Development Association.

Included is a copy of a 1974 Grant Application for an Economic and Industrial Planning Staff for a Wichita Sedgwick County Development Commission. A resolution authorizing the resignation of the Wichita Regional Economic Adjustment Committee to the Wichita Development Commission, Organizational Charts of the City of Wichita Department of Community Development, and Office of Energy Resources and Planning, and lastly a copy of the Energy Study Phase I study by Wichita State University.
