Description: Members of the Deluge Company participating in a firefighters’ tournament in Kansas City, Missouri. They are preparing to race with a hose reel, which was the principal piece of equipment of the time. It was pulled by as many as eighteen men with two men handling the guide shafts. The Deluge Company was based in the Number 1 Hose House, 220 North Market.
