The Century II building in the foreground was completed in 1969 and named in honor of Wichita's entry into the second century after being founded in 1870. Constructed by the city with funding help from the Urban Renewal Agency to provide a large and attractive civic center. It replaced the old Forum and other deteriorated business structures along the river front.
