History Standard
  The student will demonstrate an ability to analyze historical events to understand the past and make decisions for the future, and will produce a Social Studies Performance Demonstration aligned with course standards.
     
Kansas: Benchmark 4
  The student understands individuals, groups, ideas, events, and development in Kansas (1860s-1890s).
Benchmark 5
 

The student understands individuals, groups, ideas, events, and developments in the period of industrialization and modernization in Kansas (1890-1920s).

Benchmark 6
  The student understands individuals, groups, ideas, events, and developments of the Depression and World War II (1920s-1940s).
Benchmark 7
  The student understands individuals, groups, ideas, events, and developments in contemporary Kansas (since 1950).
Benchmark 8
  The student engages in historical thinking skills.
     
United States: Benchmark 11
  (Power Standard) The student engages in critical thinking and discussion of historical topics.
Indicator 11-1
  The student examines historical materials relating to United States history during the 1800s to analyze change over time and make logical inferences concerning cause and effects.
Indicator 11-2
  (Power Standard) The student uses basic research skills to conduct an investigation of an historical event.
Indicator 11-3
  The student examines historical documents, artifacts, and other material, and analyzes them in terms of credibility, as well as the purpose, perspective, and point of view for which they were constructed.
